Not a Nattzee, but... it was socialist in the sense that the State had programs for workers (Vacations, car ownership, home buying, etc...) that the owner class was not providing.
They paid for these programs, via taxes.
In the country I live in, workers fought for these concessions, but that wasn't possible in a late stage feudal country like Germany.
