I found that the cheap stuff at Walmart worked better and longer than the cat specific insulin as well. The cheap WM insulin vial could be used up completely, even if it took several months. The cat specific insulin cost $120 and after around 6 weeks, it's potency dropped off.

The best part is that you don’t even need a prescription. Just walk up to the counter and say “I need a vial of Novolin n” and they ring it up. Syringes too.
