This is disgusting, it's the entertainment industry trying to trade favors with politicians for special treatment. Recently California made it very difficult for people to run small sole proprietorships or work as independent contractors. This state bill was called AB-5. The nationwide version, which Biden supports, will be called the Pro Act if I'm not mistaken. Almost everything in entertainment is a 1099 contractor situation. Now that Kamala's stepdaughter is a "model," Kamala is incentivized to either ensure the entertainment industry gets special exemptions, OR oppose the Pro Act entirely. And we all know old man Biden is not thinking clearly, he will do whatever his handlers tell him. What other industries were affected by AB-5? Uh, everything. Some truckers. Freelance writers. Musicians. Some nurses and other medical professionals. What did they have to do in California to try and keep their careers? Usually, form an LLC. California taxes LLCs $800/year. The bill was the brainchild of Lorena Gonzalez, a learning-disabled half-wit who "graduated" from the "finest" universities but presented an unreadable, contradictory bill. She's the daughter of some migrant worker IIRC. She worked for do-nothing unions before getting into politics. (The kind of union that doesn't do jack shit for its low-income members. Not a good union like Teamsters have.) This bill literally hurt the most vulnerable people: single moms who had worked from home, old people freelancing so they didn't have to live solely on their pensions. It made some people homeless, and they want to take it nationwide. If you work for yourself, if you run a small business? Keep an eye on the clown team in the White House. When this stupid thing comes up for a vote, call and write to your representatives. It will kill whatever small businesses COVID missed. I don't want this country to become California. Do you?
