The logic used by the service provider is that you breached the contract by violating the TOS, so they are no longer obligated to provide services to you. Add to this that they may have reserved the right to discontinue service explicitly and you agreed to it.
But all this is a moot point if nobody will effectively go after them for you.
It doesn't matter if you're right or wrong if you're not willing to put up the money to pay for your own team of lawyers to go after reddit and their team of lawyers.
You have the right to terminate any contract due to unforeseen circumstances that are out of your control, period. This is not up for debate.
