Modern people are scared of combat, it's that simple. Even your typical national guard soldier is kind of a pussy.
A lot of people "own guns" but owning a gun doesn't make you a soldier. Shit, being in the Army, doesn't make you a real soldier but must gun owners are completely untrained and unequipped. Their skills are only relevant against burglars. If you take enough classes, you will realize this.
There is no way to do anything with these idiots, it would be a few minutes of chaos followed by wholesale surrender and a lot of crying. That's actually a very optimistic scenario. In reality, you couldn't get them to do anything without fucking it up royally. Getting basic shit done would be a huge problem.

The big advantage the military has over "the people" is organization/logistics along with really basic training but that is more than enough.
Look at how they are able to stage 50,000 men in the capitol or anywhere for that matter. That alone makes them unstoppable.
Explain the untrained fighters of the middle east holding up a entire nations army. Or Vietnam
Those weren't real wars, they could easily just slaughter everyone but that wasn't the point.
Insurgents in those nations are way tougher and better equipped, willing to sacrifice their women and children, used to living in a warzone and seeing people die in front of them. Life is cheap there, they don't care about dying. I would bet that a good number of them have raped a man/woman or killed someone at some point in their life. Night and day, man.
White Americans are females compared to them, most can't live outside, TERRIFIED of death, super emotional, cucked vs warrior religion, all they have are AR15s that most have only a basic idea how to use and maintain. Most people do not have plate carriers, suitable holsters, belts, etc. You'd have 75% showing up without a proper sling setup shooting the guy next to him in the foot, the poor devil is screaming and crying, no medic, can't go to a hospital. People would rip each other apart. C'mon man. lol
A further complication is that they are a bunch of "dudley do rights" so if someone told them to "jack that truck and get rid of the driver" they'd say "I ain't doin' that!". I guarantee there would be a thousand things these clowns would not do and argue on moral grounds. Anything remotely effective with the resources available would be off the table and they'd fuck it up if they tried since they've never done anything like that in their life.
No supply chain, no ability to move anything including men, no fucking ammo other than what you brought, just nothing.
I'm really trying to think of a scenario where NG loses any kind of ground to them. Can't think of one and most of those guys fucking suck.
Ordinary folks would have to be super mean and nasty, doing things that serial killers normally do, living like criminals. It's just out of character. Sorry, my imagination only goes so far.
