In my opinion, this is one of the most important books ever written.

This is the current path of the United States as of 2021.

Tl;Dr... also, extremely poorly written. No structure. Trying to parse together free writing creativity project.

Solzhenitsyn had to pack the book off for publishing quickly, in the west, before it was going to get seized. He had to write it in secret. He was unable to even hold the whole book in his hands, pieces and bits were stored with other people. For that reason he admittedly repeats and recounts events out sequence. Solzhenitsyn knew it was unedited and apologizes for this at the end of the book.

I'd really like to see an abridged/edited version with annotations explaining what fucking esoteric part of Russian history he's alluding to. It's nearly unreadable in any form I've seen.

I trust no one to edit anything. It's always jews.

I agree, but I guess to understand Russian history and literature you have to suffer through a lot of incredibly long books by other impossibly long winded authors. I guess reading and writing long books is what you do when suffering through long winters, long wars, and long prison sentences.

One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch is a good read as well, and a good companion to Gulag.

I will have to look into it. Thank you.

That book is a dark ride to a strange place.
