I'm gonna get accused of being a shill. But I really believe Assange is guilty of what he's accused of. He very likely requested classified info from manning. You can accept info but you cant ask or pay for it.
Assange never agreed to a non disclosure. You think it should be against the law for journalists to ask questions about war crimes? Crimes that actually happened?

Generally yes. If the crime is bad enough it's up to whistle blowers to willingly give it up. How would a journalist even know about the war crime to start with? You shouldn't have foreign journalists hounding people with clearance for Intel as a general rule.
Traitor to a free republic is what comes to mind. The press should be actively doing their job and the people have a right to know what they are paying for.
