308 is a truly excellent round for a trained army to use... if you're in a militia, it's worth stepping up to 300 win.

08 drops too much and requires too much training for today's situation.

if everything was my decision, i'd make everyone shoot 130 grain 270.

As a Marine 308 was the Largest caliber accessible. My personal collection i have upgraded Rifle to 6.8 spc and this is devastating. Long range i still us 308 as my geographic location makes anything else seem like hunting chipmunks with a howitzer. I have access to 1000 yd ranges though. I have sent some 338 Lapua downrange and this.... is bad ass!

6.8 is the closest thing to 270... the army should have just gone with 270 from the start and the performance would have been WAY better.
