As a Marine 308 was the Largest caliber accessible. My personal collection i have upgraded Rifle to 6.8 spc and this is devastating. Long range i still us 308 as my geographic location makes anything else seem like hunting chipmunks with a howitzer. I have access to 1000 yd ranges though. I have sent some 338 Lapua downrange and this.... is bad ass!
6.8 is the closest thing to 270... the army should have just gone with 270 from the start and the performance would have been WAY better.
I agree, its a game changer. I was running 77 gr and this was a noticeable difference over 63gr. Unfortunately feeding reliability was a factor as cartridge barely fit into mags.
i've never been to USA but i can confidently say most farmers on the eastern side of the rocky mountains would outshoot 90% of USA and the 270 is a major reason why.
