Lets look at this another way.
Rather than strip them of dual citizenship, forbid anyone from holding office if they maintain dual citizenship.
Give them no quarter. If you're in for a penny, you're in for a pound. It's fine to be proud of your heritage, join all the social clubs you want that want a remembrance, but citizenship means allegiance to one country and only one. Part of the cost of benefitting from the hard work of our founders.
I agree with that for anyone who wants to hold more than a local office, but not necessarily for your average citizen. I have a friend with a US father and a New Zealand mother. She hold dual citizenship and I don't think there's any reason why she shouldn't.
What is the reason for her to retain her NZ citizenship? Is it just an emotional aspect, or does she receive physical/legal benefit from it?
