What is the reason for her to retain her NZ citizenship? Is it just an emotional aspect, or does she receive physical/legal benefit from it?
She lives there 6 months out of the year.
So she does get a physical benefit from it. That makes sense. So does she have to pay taxes in both places for the advantages she receives? I'm not an adamant nut and surely don't know how it should all work out. I do believe politicians should be only citizens of our great country. When it comes to private citizens I suppose there are reasons, like her.
I myself feel no need to have anything other than US citizenship. Unlike most of my friends, I don't claim to be anything other than American. My family came from elsewhere but U was born here.
And yes, my friend's tax situation is rather complex because she owns land there and lives there half the year.
