None of these options are viable. There are too many heads, too many bodyguards. Secession leads to a civil war which ultimately seems likely to end in a massacre because the military industrial complex is vast and powerful. The enemy doesn't care about collateral damage.

Yeah, but what if the U.S. government's enemies which almost all U.S. government officials are in bed with decided that's what they wanted? The U.S. government is really in the hands of foreign powers. Maybe they want the U.S. to be balkanized?
