Being oppositional is still engaging in conflict with another (((party))). It's not important what they believe, but that they believe. Because engaging in the contract of belief is upholding another's framework in your mind, even if you yourself don't believe. Is that close?

So a belief becomes a lense in a way, because one's reality is filtered by the framework of belief/assumptions. Hence things that don't fit into the assumed model get filtered out, while those that confirm the model are recognized. The gorilla goes unnoticed during the basketball game.
