I openly admit I am not very knowledgeable of this bit of history... but I know that Northern Ireland is STILL under British rule... and the fact remains that the article YOU linked does not support the title to YOUR post. Ireland was never liberated and the leaders were executed one month later.
This event was prior to the Irish Republic being won. And British troops and checkpoints were pulled out of NI Ulster after PM Thatcher's hotel was blown up. Yes, Ulster is still mostly British.
