Heck, the reason muslims spread into Europe was cause the fourth crusade looted and burned Christian cities that didn't pay them protection money. It's the reason Constantinople fell.

The protestant reformation was the major downfall of Europe. It fractured Christian Europe making Europe weak. For example, Protestants hated the Catholic Church so much they refused to lend a hand in fighting off muslim invaders. If it wasn't for Catholic Europe's success at the Battle of Lepanto, Europe would of fallen into Muslim hands. The disjointed pagans tribes were no match for the muslims unlike the Holy Roman Empire.
