I would say because a lot of people are afraid to speak up, don't/can't think for themselves or at the very least dont want to lose their comfortable lifestyle. The bread and circuses have been so filling for so many. I think in Canada there was an article about more people hating jews online and reading more into conspiracies because of the amount of free time they had during lockdowns, no sports and no eating out/bars. Weird...once people stop being distracted they stop seeing the trees and start seeing the forest.
