Langan's performance on the "World's toughest IQ test" is well documented. When the test was originally published in Omni magazine, Langan's score was the highest of all responders, in the 170-sumthing range, with something like 41/47 correct answers. Langan was a construction worker at the time, and as such, had taken the test in an unprompted manner, meaning without prior study.

Per high-IQ society standards, Langan then "crammed" for the test, using a pseudonym to take the test again. On his next try, I think Langan got all but one question correct, generating the estimated 190-210 IQ score. The next-highest score on the test was achieved by Rick Rosner, who had to take the test several times, but I think eventually matched Langan's score or else was one answer short, and who calls himself the world's 2nd smartest man. Langan's score gets him into ANY IQ-test based society and with the highest score, regardless of what non High-IQ folks have to say a bout the matter.

The test is available for any of the celebrity high IQ folks like Marilyn Vos Savant to take, but they know they can't match Langan's score and would thus lose their mythical IQ status. As far as I know, Langan is the only "celebrity" IQ person with a legitimate claim of a 200 IQ, while the "240" IQ claims for people like Savant were generated by their agents or publicists, not by their "world's toughest IQ test" score.
