Nah, I don't buy it. Trump has some background as a N.Y. Democrat. He said he thought Hillary would make a good president. Trump is responsible for his policies and decisions. Whatever influence Jared has, it comes from Trump. He just uses Jared and Ivanka to absorb the backlash when he swings left or joins the establishment.

He manages to get some of his base to think they wouldn't have any real objections to his policy if not for Jared or Ivanka. And instead of losing their support, they just grumble about Trump having to appease his liberal family.

It's all Trump though. He doesn't have to ask Jared for advice. If advice is offered, he can hear it and then make his own decision. If he lets Jared influence his policy, that in no way detracts from Trump's responsibility for his own policy.

The first argument I've seen for why the president should take responsibility for white house decisions, not another "because orange man bad!"
