Renewable energy should be part of this balanced breakfast, but the majority, if we want reliable power, will probably always need to come from mass generators like nuclear.
We either need to drastically reduce our energy consumption... Like, every household is equipped like a boat, it's 12v or gtfo.... That's right for your computer it's fucking raspi or btfo
And evidently fugget' about all that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1xkO0_lSU0
Like only some industries get a big chunk of power.... That sounds like pretty commie shit I know
And it doesn't solve the streetlight poblem... Let alone the fucking cars... And plastic in general, because yeah, oil is much more than energy... It's petrochemistry, everything in a nuttshell
...
That or raw power, I mean, yeah, we need a massive dose of electrical power to maintain shits as they are, optimization is a plus regarding energy consumption of course, but that alone isn't enough
And if we don't get nuclear... Well, then we get a crazy shitton of windmills.... Like billions to compensate... What's the final cost? Ecological and/or financial? It's crazy
Now the problem with nuclear, is that if society collapses... And nobody can say these days shit is never going to happen... Well that's whn it turns into the nastiest shit on earth only second to abandoned BSL4 labs....
Yeah, nuke certainly has problems, there's no way around that. If society collapses those areas will probably be fairly self-contained unless they melt down as society is failing - that's something no one can predict.
Things have become a lot more efficient over the years, for example, with LEDs I can turn on every light in the house and be using a similar amount of energy as what my one room used incandescent. My entire network rack consumes about 150W, about the same as one machine did years ago. But we're using a lot more electric appliances, it's not uncommon to see someone that has a television in every room that's on all day, even with no one in the room. I know many people that are guilty of this.
There's no need to be 12V, AC transmission is highly efficient, and generating power in a single location is the easiest way to contain the problems with generation. Just cut back on the gadgets you have running all the time and you'll be amazed at how low your electric bill can get.
The problem is that the whole planet wants to get equipped somewhere between european/american level, and that's the minimum standard threshold
They all want that "minimum".... They all want the stuff they see on tv
...
9.8 billion people circa 2050?
...
That's crazyshit territory
And for some reason it starts to stabilize afterward... My ass
