Everything happening right now is unconstitutional, local to state to federal government power grabs are happening at all levels. If we can’t get this economy up and running ASAP we are all going to have bigger problems to deal with that will make us wish Covid-19 was all we ever had to contend with. State and local governments are thwarting that effort, so idk what we should do other than start to hang politicians
I don't think so. Interstate commerce is jurisdiction of the federal government, and that's in the Constitution. Washington, Oregon, and California can't form a pact together to do what they are planning to do with the apps that track if you've been exposed to Wuhan virus and digital vaccine proof.
Since so much goods go through the Port of LA, he could theoretically force California to end the stay at home or safer at home orders and claim he's doing it for the benefit of the interior states (pick a landlocked state without major river access to the seas). This is why the Interstate Commerce Clause makes the whole Constitution murky and ripe for abuse via a paragraph or two that seemed reasonably stated 200+ years ago.
That factor changes my opinion a bit...thanks.
To my knowledge, this hasn't been done so I don't think there's ever been a challenge between 10A and Interstate Commerce. If 10A wins, this could be a huge restriction/expansion on what the feds or states can do. I'd prefer states affected by the states forming pacts go after the pacts themselves; if the administration does it and wins, that gives a huge ace to the next lefty that comes into power. That's the thing that bothers me the most about all this bullshit regarding Wuhan virus.
Interesting to see if leftoids would use 'state's rights' all the sudden as a key platform issue. I also want to see how far "state compacts" go.
So he accepts no responsibility and doesn't build a simple wall, but his authority should be absolute?
What a joke.
...because it goes against state's rights and limited government; he basically signaled RINO status. Many of us atleast like to see him trigger all the swamp doodles like Pelosi, but if he outs himself as a poseur who is willing to ignore conservative principles for the sake of ego?
“When somebody’s the president of the United States, the authority is total” within the limitation imposed by the constitution...
Maybe he meant over certain institutions that are supposed to follow orders when he gives them... You know, obama era leftover giving into "resistance"/sabotage...
Great point. Trump is one of the worst orators ever. He speaks in headlines, expecting people to know what is in his head, where the details are.
He wants to impose the end of lockdown... At least he can do it on a federal level, that's a given
Now if states object at local level... Well then I guess they will, it's going to go to court, etc...
America can turn into a full blown chinese dictatorship if states AND the federal government are on board with a common totalitarian program, and that's without taking into consideration that the judicial system has to be on board with that too, or at least de facto mostly excluded from the equation, somehow.
Now if one oppose the other... It's going to drag in court for years
For that to happen you would need a cartel of private interests to takeover the whole... Local(s) and federal positions.... That's not impossible while it's a also fucking stretch.... Half of the whole is one thing, all of it, and maintain that position... That's an entire different ballgame, especially if the citizenry starts to go batshit insane over it, it can only be done covertly and on a rather long period of time, incrementally, with a special war time situation, perpetual, on top of that, to justify constant overreach, new normal over new normal
One could argue that we're almost there, and that without trump it would have turned to an entire different level of orwell already
When did he ever claim to be a conservative? Sure he has conservative ideas on several things, but he's just as fast with the cash as the rest of the bums in DC.
I voted for him to bring chaos and shine a spotlight on the goings on in DC and he seems to be doing a fine job of that. I would have voted for Flipper instead of her though.
Well he became a republican, but that doesn't mean he has a 'statement of faith' to defend his positions. I go for 'populist' in how he wants approval/self-glory, and that means 'going with the flow' to maintain the image.
He's a carnival barker and very effective at what he does.
And considering state and local governments are abandoning our Bill of Rights all across the nation, and the judicial system is for all intents and purposes shut down, some one needs to set these politicians straight, whether it be the people or the executive branch
