The current generation has grown up in a world free of big communist powers save China, and for all intents and purposes China is monopolistic capitalism where the government is the owner of all commerce, and you exist at their pleasure. Cuba is just a gnat compared to the horsefly they used to be with the USSR's help, and Viet Nam is just another place you hear about that had a war in it.
What is probably needed, and I hate to say it, is a good old fashioned dose of communism to show the kids what it's really like. It will probably last long enough for us older folk to live in the system without too much trouble, but you can be assured it will fall apart in time for them to wonder what happened and why isn't it working like Sanders said it would?
The sad thing is that we cal all see exactly what Socialism brings t the table by looking at Venezuela. Only a fool believes Bernie and his ilk when they say it'll be different here in the States.
I know. Being promised free stuff distorts vision.
edit: And he couldn't tell you where all the money for the free stuff was going to come from, either.
