We need Bloomberg to win. If Sanders gets the nomination he will end up with 1 trillion dollars (typical for political spending on one side) to spread a communist message. The worst part is that for people aged 18-22, that might be their first presidential political experience and the ideologies they are taught can stick.
Alternatively if Bloomberg remains in one of the top two positions he will spend a lot of money in the primary which is never good for a party because that's funding of infighting. If he is down ranked quickly he will hold onto his cash and fund whoever does win in the general. We'd prefer he spend his money now.
