The world has moved on since NATO was formed and alliances need to keep up with the changes. (The same can be said of the UN.)
When it was difficult and time-consuming to get everyone involved in a group decision together it make sense to have representatives from all involved parties on hand to meet when needed. Now it doesn't. I can set up a worldwide video conference with dozens of people in a matter of minutes. NATO members can't?

Yup, the UN should be nothing more than a forum that members can complain about each other and nothing more. But too many Americans keep electing idiots to DC and those idiots keep giving money to NATO or UN and now look at the beasts.

Good luck trying to get any meaningful reform of those. We probably won't even be able to get any meaningful reform done on our own alphabet agencies, how would we do it to the UN or NATO? I don't trust congress to shut down FISA courts, they've proven in the past that they end something by renaming it something else and no one sees it.

I don't for a second think we're going to be able to reform NATO or the UN. Our best hope - and it's an extreme long shot - would be to leave both groups.

I agree with that. Leave the UN and then evict them. If Germany wants there to be a European Army, all that would have to happen is for the US and a few other non-EU members leave NATO and they take over the rest. The Deep State will hate both and the MIC will hate the NATO move.
