First off, I disagree with the premise. It's not time for the US to do it, it's time for Mexico to do it. Well past time, actually.
The things is, AMLO isn't going to so it has a great impact on the US. What the US needs to do is build a strong border with Mexico and keep the cartels on the other side of it.
