Too bad the tech is out there. Its like guns and 3d printing. You can't do fuck all about it.
Sure, they can force you to register it and use a transponder but you can build one out of parts you buy from ebay or whatever place you want. It is surprisingly simple.
The genie is out of the bag and you can't put it back in. Hell, you could hack apart various appliances, tools and toys, to build one of these.
