With permanent DST, the sun won't rise until 8:30 or 9:00 in many areas during the winter.

I'm OK with that. Most of the kids aren't getting up early to milk the cow and gather eggs anymore. Getting dark at 4:30 in the afternoon is horrifically bad on the psyche.
