Reality : if you can't get parts, you need to eliminate a need for replacement parts. The hilux is the most indestructible vehicle this side of an Abrams tank there is.

My dad's farm hand managed to kill the rear diff in our Hilux. Granted, he had to remove the oil plug, then forget to refill the diff and forget to put the plug back in again... Drove it a fair way before the pinion bearings melted their cages and rolled the bits into tiny pieces of blue and yellow foil.
Well, that's pretty severe and would definitely work , though if he kept it on the farm at crawling speeds it may have survived even that.
Siezed up driving down the road, I had to go out with the tractor and pick it up with hay forks by the rear end and drag it back to the workshop.
