Yeah and it costs A LOT to separate the gas meters for units in an old house so landlords used to have to pay that bill and hope the tenant doesn’t fuck them on utility use. Electric is the first to get individually metered when a house gets carved into apartments bc the tragedy of the commons on electric without accountability is crazy year ‘round.
