I remember when I was in elementary school I could have a bank account in my name and access it as necessary. By the time I was in middle school the laws or rules had changed and my parents needed to be on the account. This was a huge problem for me at the time because I had a few hundred dollars in the bank from mowing lawns and I could no longer access it. Also, since my parents weren't on the account (since it wasn't previously required), they couldn't access the money either. It actually took like two trips over the course of a week to resolve.
