Term limits makes selling out to special interests more appealing. It is like when a worker-type puts in their two weeks, when they don't need to worry about getting reelected they will ignore their duty and concentrate on finding their next pig trough.
Even machine-politics are not troubled by term limits. There are plenty of people like AOC who would be eager to follow orders just for the chance at gaining that much attention.
