Everyone is celebrating all these companies pulling out of Russia. It is just a bunch of normal people losing their jobs. Not something that should be celebrated.

Certainly more than of Buddhism in Afghanistan.

The Taliban not too long ago destroyed . I guess being confronted with another religion is an offense to Islam. History being erradicated.

An intermixing with the subjects you conquer, is at best a risk. Not a guaranteed outcome. And the difference in wealth and technology is today much greater than it ever used to be. If a modern empire emerges without any pity or mercy, I believe that risk today would be close to zero. You can now slaughter people without ever seeing their face or even sillhouette.

The problem is it galvanizes everyone to fight against you. And they'll fight harder and in more ruthless ways because they are fighting for survival and your just fighting for expansion. For some trivial shit like killing some barely above stone age tech tribe it doesnt matter but why bother if you ignored/left them in isolation then they also wouldn't matter. But as soon as you come up a handful of similarly developed cultures that align against you it's going to be a stale mate or worse. Empires always go route 2 and absorb their opponents into their system and ultimately it destroys them. Look at every empire and they all collapse the same way from rome to the catholic church, english, spanish, french and now the US.

But as soon as you come up a handful of similarly developed cultures that align against you it's going to be a stale mate.

Russia is currently trying to take over a country.

There are countries China would love to usurp.

The countries they'd love to take over, are not in the stone age. They just don't have nuclear weapons.

In the past, the US could've just driven a modern warship next to China, and China behaved. As their military capabilities start to match ours, we will have to ask ourselves if we are willing to risk nuclear war to stop them from expanding. And we might realize that their morality is very different from ours. They might end up doing things we thought impossible.

Afghanistan is now considered 99.7% Muslim. As I said, it used to be buddhist.

How do you think that happened? Did they just ask nicely?
