But as soon as you come up a handful of similarly developed cultures that align against you it's going to be a stale mate.
Russia is currently trying to take over a country.
There are countries China would love to usurp.
The countries they'd love to take over, are not in the stone age. They just don't have nuclear weapons.
In the past, the US could've just driven a modern warship next to China, and China behaved. As their military capabilities start to match ours, we will have to ask ourselves if we are willing to risk nuclear war to stop them from expanding. And we might realize that their morality is very different from ours. They might end up doing things we thought impossible.
I agree but the US is also it's own worst enemy. It built china up because lots of foreign entanglements within our system saw it as an opportunity to fill their coffers while weakening the US. This wasn't a hard development to see coming yet because of the nature of our empirical government we no longer have a say over it's actions.
I agree.
I think China could be a prime candidate for a future Empire that will act without mercy and pity.
You noted that Afghans might have buddhist genes in them. That is true. But like Christianity, Islam is more focused around culture and belief than race. After all there are African Muslims, Middle eastern muslims, European Muslims, Asiatic Muslims... There is still racism in islamic countries, of course. But their main concern is belief.
And even if islam is not uniform and suffers from infighting, their culture is very distinct from say, buddhism. As such, they absolutely succeeded in erradicating the original cultures.
Based on what I've heard, China is more racial. Allegedly you have a hard time unless you are han-chinese. I don't know to what extend that is true, because if you read our media you'd sometimes think we never abolished slavery. But I do know that China is much less racially diverse.
