This is why Biden is wrong about it being an implausibility of the American people winning against the US government. The US military is actually one of the weakest organizations in the world.
They lost against a few guys with AKs. They are far less educated and have fewer resources at their disposal. Think about a Taliban IED. Now think about one designed by Mark Rober. For every Mark Rober on youtube (there are many), there are 10,000 of them not on youtube, many of whom would be on our side.
The truth is the Taliban didn't win due to any virtue of their war fighting ability, but because the US military sucks as an organization. They will lose any long term conflict they engage in because they are an ineffective organization. Maybe to the fullest extent any organization could be. They had near infinite dollars and couldn't defeat the weakest enemy on paper.
When we say a man is strong we aren't talking about how much muscle mass he has, or how much he works out per day. We are talking about his capability. It's measured against real execution. By this metric the US military is as weak as it gets, and if the people's interests were ever at odds with the military's interests to the point that it broke out into a war, if the people have any degree of sticktuitiveness, the truth is the US military will by default lose any long term objective it sets out to do, and thus by default the people will win any long term objective they set out for that finds itself at odds with military will. The military in the long term is a non-force.
I sure don't want a war. It's not fun being Taliban. They got shot up and killed. Not fun stuff. In any sane world war is avoided entirely because the military would recognize that they serve us and should conform to the will of the people in any case. But as not fun as a physical conflict would be, and worth avoiding, the truth is that we would win, because they would lose, because they are uniform losers with pretty much no exception.
The fact that we are more educated and armed and resourced just means that the US would just lose quicker and America would win a bit quicker. It took the Taliban 20 years to win. We might win it in 10 or 15 instead. Either way we win. It would be a shitty conflict that should be avoided completely. But we would win.
Take a look at the US war fighting strategy. What tools do they have. They remove and assassinate leaders. They set up checkpoints. They set up patrols and bases. They quarter off entire cities. That sounds scary, but that's the most they can do and the only tools they know. And the truth is that doesn't work. That tool set hasn't won them a single long term victory anywhere. And that's all they could do to oppose the people and would be their likely go to tools. They are trained and believe those tools work but there is a difference between training and reality. Reality is clear. It doesn't work. And it wouldn't work here despite being the only tools they would use because of their training.
