Stay at a deluxe 5 star resort, have a hot breakfast, get driven to the pre-prepared hunting spot which has been methodically scoped out for weeks by a team of ultra high $ hunting guides to ensure that a bear will come moping along looking for berries out in the open, and then shoot it from long distance with a high power rifle and military grade optics.

Demons that kill animals for 'sport' will burn in hell.

You can eat bear just fyi.

[–] [deleted] 5 pts

Ya, but Hafer didn't. And, bear tastes like clay with axle grease on it, fyi.

[–] 7 pts

It's not as tasty as spotted owl or snow leopard, thats for sure.

Their fat is super nutrient rich. you can put that on anything. you get a cut? put bear fat on it.

Interior black bears have fantastic meat

Just add a little garlic.

We don't really believe he ate it, right?

[–] 4 pts

Im assuming so, because killing a large animal and not eating it is BS. I want to bag a mt lion, and yes I plan to eat it.

Bear meat isn't kosher so I doubt it

[–] 1 pt

Brown bear? No thanks. Pretty universally considered inedible. In fact, alaska, which has extremely strict meat salvage laws, does not require brown bear meat to be salvaged

Here's a variant of this meme:

Please feel free to spread far and wide as you see fit. Enjoy.

the epsilon variant

Well, sure glad I made it. I made the Hero/Zero one first. I did a couple of others as well, but these two seemed the best.

Most managed hunts include the processing of the harvested animal. Usually little, if anything, is wasted. I will concede that a lot of the work, if you will, is gone And lessens the experience overall.

Ya, I know, but I highly doubt this bear got processed at all.

FWIW: I have worked for a big game outfitter. 3 seasons. I didn't do the actual "guiding" if you will, my main job was to set up and do game counts. Record where herds entered the target valley and when. What they did. Any Griz that were in the area and how they were behaving. This guy was meticulously methodical, which is why he was one of the top big game outfitters ever in that area. Mostly Elk, but his specialty was Bighorns and Rocky Mountain Goats, but those are Fucking A hard to score, even when all the hard work has been done. Celebrity excursion trophy hunters can't do it, and then they end up being pissed they did not get their precious trophy. Elk is where the money is. And yes, another of my tasks was to quarter the kills and hump them out on horseback. THAT part always spooked me, because I knew exactly how many Griz were in the area, and if they were acting "odd". Just a wee bit unnerving being covered in blood from head to toe and lugging around giant slabs of Elk when you know for sure there are bears watching. I also did a lot of the cooking. "I'm Just The Cook" was my favorite pun line with the clients.

Cool. Sounds like you were at a good one vs "Billy Bob's beer bong and bear blasting hunten squad". 👍

It's worse than your description. They scope out hibernating bears and kill them at their weakest, when they first emerge, with sleep boogers still in their eyes and before their first meal of the season. There's no sport in killing a spring bear.

Im always curious why people mention"high powrred rifle" as if thats a bad thing. Its a fucking brown bear, should he shoot it with a low powered rifle? You want it just wounded and suffering rather than a clean kill with an appropriate cartridge? What kind of sick fuck are you?

[–] [deleted] 0 pt (edited )

There is no sport killing an animal with advanced technology. Might as well just drone strike it.

Bears are neither agile, elusive or clever enough to attack the source.

The whole point of a game is there is the risk of losing. If you're going to go out and kill animals for fun then I expect that there to be a sizeable risk that either the animal or nature will kill you.

So a low powered rifle then? I agree with long range shots being gay, but wtf is a high powerex rifle bad? A low powered rifle will wound and cause undue suffering and a high liklihood of losing the animal. Its unethical to use a weapob without sufficient power for a clean kill. I use a.444 marlin for black bear. Hits hard enough to knock them on their asses right there, puts them down fast. But i hunt for close range shots. Dont use a scope or binoculars. I call them in to spitting distance. But when i do pull the trigger, whether theyre 5 yards or 30 yards away, i use a gun with enough power to put them down clean.

I demand you answer my loaded questions!

How about you just go fuck yourself instead.

[–] 1 pt

No, really. If a high powered rifle is bad, what do you suggest for brown bear? 6mm? .223?

[–] 1 pt

Recoil-less anti-tank rifle.
