Gonna skirt TOS and say I kinda hope he does, not because I want him to die, but because I hope he's the catalyst that begins the hot civil war finally. This isn't gonna end until fighting breaks out openly.
They are probably gonna keep him on life support for some time, even if he's brain dead.
