Clearly I'm not as smart as I think I am, because I've been trying to come up with a way to very succinctly explain to people why minimum wage laws are bullshit which props-up unskilled (and devalues skilled) labour, for a long time. Ever notice that every time the minimum wage amount gets a bump, you invariably end-up losing some of your money's stretch-iness? Companies damn-near have exact formulas, on how to compensate, each time there's a forced pay-raise. The only result is you, as a peon, losing purchasing power— all while the ruling elites eat the difference.
I'm remembering this metaphor and keeping it loaded.

The only result is *you*, as a peon, losing purchasing power— all while the ruling elites eat the difference.
