We Brits love sausages, but they look underdone if I'm honest mate. If you've got some chunky sausages to cook, top tip is to cook them in boiling water so they're cooked through then fry them in dripping until brown (fry with onions is an option too). When you're plating up, pour that cooked dripping hot over the mashed spuds. And also, 1lcemonkey, Heck chicken sausages are pretty fucking good. Not sure you can get them outside of UK though.
