For portagee gravy, make a roux (roo) by mixing flour and a fat. Couple of tablespoons of flour, equal amount of bacon grease, butter, etc. Heat fat, add flour, stir/cook for about five minutes. Add milk until you get gravy. Salt, pepper, spices. Enjoy.
