Reposts have the advantage of bumping the link to the front so that folks who missed the first link because it's so old get a better chance to see it.

Could the algorithm be extended so that instead of posting a duplicate link it just bumps the original post to the front page?

Alternatively you could have dup posts auto link to each other so we can see all the related comments

You can't bump a post, because it gets archived and the comments are closed after 2 months.

Duplicate posts have a "related" icon (double square) with a number underneath below their title. When you click it, it sends you to a list of all the duplicate posts, sorted from newest to oldest.

Please can use that to read previous comment threads.
