Like gnu, which means that if you use it you must also be open sourced, essentially. So all of these sites that copy reddit are legally required to publish their source. So, if the dev on one site spruces something up or makes it more secure, the devs on the other sites will copy that code. Nothing immoral, everything is open sourced. That's part of the point of open source. Not the only point, but part of it.
