So if you want to share an image from that domain, just copy it into your device's clipboard and paste it in the clipboard field in Poal's submit link post page (or save it on your device and upload it).

Also, postimg[dot]cc has also been banned for exclusively using webp images (which are known to be unsafe as they can contain exploits).

Interesting. Thank you for catching this!

What's with the webp push anyway? jpeg has worked fine for the last 30 years, and it's not like we're running out of storage.

This was the one I sometimes used, yes?

Maybe.

I hoped most people would understand that using these links who force you to open a website is fishy as fuck.

Using direct image links, like I've been repeatedly suggesting, is safer as it doesn't load anything but mime-type data (unless it's a webp, which is why it's blocked on poal).

Yeah I would submit the "view image" link to get a .png .jpg .gif rather than some URL full of page scripts and other such tracker URLs.

Some of those direct links are still working. So my guess is they removed the entry in the db, but the data remain.

Awesome. I had added that to uBlock to block that domain long ago due to their shenanigans (along with imijewr).

If a pic8 link to an image someone posted tried loading the image on that host, I simply did not get to see that image or tried again another time to see if it would be on a different host if I really wanted to see it (as I don't think we can manually force pic8 to switch the host it is using for the image). Glad images on that host will not be a problem now.

I don't think that one is/was part of pic8's host list.

pic8 does have ibb[dot]co as a backend image host

haven't experienced them deleting image off pic8, but the host can be disabled if need be.

Won't last long when they'll notice no more traffic from Poal and an increase from Pic8.

How is this possible? Aren't images from all domains change to pic8 on Poal?

I'm computer illiterate.

You can uncheck "use pic8" when/if you want to submit a link post with an image from another image host.

Sharing image links in comments aren't automatically converted into pic8 links. It's up to users to use pic8 or another host that might end up deleting these images.

Uploading images to pic8 first and sharing resulting short links will ensure that your images will never expire.
