Random curious visitor going to poal.co will see "There are no posts here, yet." and may assume it is a dead site?

Simple redirect either in site code or DNS could fix it pretty easily.

It's on the hosting side. Edit your .htaccess over FTP.

I have root ssh access to my server the site is served by python too a nginx reverse proxy. As far as I can tell there isn't an .htaccess file

in ssh, if you cd to / and type

ls -la

can you see it?

nope no .htacess I've ls -la multiple times the whole thing is rediculously dependant on python and I am familiar with php which always has a .htacess
