That's not a bug, it happens that way because when you open a poal link from your PM box (comment replies), it then takes you inside a comment thread where the reply is.
That's why you have that blue menu bar at the top of the comments telling you aren't inside a comment thread.

That has been that way for over 2 years. Your suggestion in ideasforpoal eventually pushed me to apply it to main comment threads (it was already doing it but only with the left border of the comments.

Is that proper for multiple frames to be highlighted?
The mouse doesn't capture in print screen so that's what the red paths indicate.
