Update Poal's UI just got better.

  • New "Options" sidebar (easy access to poal's features such as subs, services, logs...and upcoming features.

  • New "Options and Sidebar" buttons for mobile in top bar menu (left side)

  • Sub names are now colored (green = subscribed, blue = default subs, grey = user subs) and are now replacing previously colored borders (left side of posts).

  • New Sidebar (right side) will get new widgets soon (customizable in your user settings)

  • Mail count badge is now blue poal.

As usual, if you notice anything funny, leave a comment.

Don't forget to clear your caches (especially in incognito/private mode).

Can I fucking disable this shit or at least move it to the right side? It looks like absolute shit with just a bunch of dead space, making the main content on the page less noticeable. Glad it's just forced, and not even an experimental feature. Reddit clones are a dime-a-dozen and people are used to the layout, why add this clunky mess to the side you start reading on.

With the sidebars it gives me late 90s, early 2000s iframes with CSS vibes. "The racing stripe" was a popular layout.

But, hey, dingbat, add a button to hide the sidebar IN THE SIDEBAR since scrolling down hides the top bar with the button t show and hide the sidebar.

The previous layout code was a mess and is gone for good. This update brings a new foundation for upcoming user customizable sidebar widgets. Especially for mobile browsing.

Whats going on with your code something is not right!

Had a long term account here but recently deleted for security reasons. Recently started this new account and would get the occasional ‘wait 3 minutes before posting message’. Log on today and all details of up voting, down voting and point earned missing and score is -97. When i try to post it comes up in light grey with a schlomo head near my user name and not possible to vote on other posts.

I think you get the jew tag if the system detects more than one account at the IP address? Its a sign of shennanigans. But people have been nuked for points for very little or no reason on this forum. You could try to pursue it with AOU but he might just call you a whiner and take off another 60 pts for fun.

Maybe on mobile its great but for desktop its not awesome. The option to close the left bar entirely would be nice then.

Please stop. Facebook clones are not ergonomic. At least allow users to choose between this Facebook crappy UI and go back to the standard forum UI with sidebar on the right.

Hmm - collapsible side bars would be an excellent option.

You have all of the user data hiding behind a single user name in the upper right corner of the top bar, so you already know the concept works. Anyone can access it with a single click.

Users want to stay focused on their conversation, and to move that along with ease. That's the important part.

Under this current format, nearly half the screen is occupied with unchanging data that would fit behind a couple of tiny links.

Change that with a custom CSS in one of your subs, then make it global in your settings.

I think Poal has become one of the most pleasant sites to use with all those UI improvements.
