I feel like there are pros and cons to allowing this. A pro for this function is people can create subs for private groups and testing purposes. But this can be a con too cause it would be easier to hide a sub made specifically for brigading. But even so, a group like that can just make a private IRC anyway.

There's no option at the moment and I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

People with bad intentions who want to hurt Poal could create subs filled with illegal materials (CP, Piracy, etc...) and report it and try to get Poal shutdown.

I think it's best to see all submissions and be able to act accordingly.

There's already a block feature If you don't want to see some subs in your new and all queue.

At least initially I am against this kind of idea it would be far too easy to abuse. I’ll think on it though.

I think people would just make 'private' subs that have no value to the overall Poal community. You could end up with more private subs who don't give a crap about the site itself, but just see it as their personal homepage kinda thing. In other words, contribute nothing to Poal, but get the benefits of a free meeting place for their own gang, on Poal's dime.

That's something I did not consider.

Most places that allow private web space are pay sites, to the best of my knowledge. I created one years ago on a site called 'MyFamily', which has since disappeared, but allowed us to have a private family page. That was great, but we had to pay for the space. My thought, and of course, just my opinion, is that being able to make a site private would amount to the same thing, but with Poal giving away it's server space and operation costs, etc, so that a group or groups could have a free place all their own with no cost to them.

I also remember back when I used to use Reddit, subreddits tended to get cancerous once they started growing beyond 10 to 50 thousand subscribers. One incident with r/anime led them to hide posts from showing up because there was a backlash to a post that reached the front page that the hivemind deemed "problematic."

No, I think all should mean ALL. Let users block a sub or type of sub (i.e. NSFW) from their own ALL feeds, perhaps.
