I've been looking for you...
Alas, it's my fault - I've been pretty busy for the past few days.
This is a starting point and I'm 99.9% sure you will be very, very interested. I'm also reasonably sure that you haven't seen much about it.
From there, you may want to search one of the *tube sites. Unfortunately, there's no complete documentary series done about it and I actually am unable to find anything about there being a documentary made! That's horrible!
I was supposed to go there this summer, but my plans changed. So, I won't be going to do a quick Europe vacation/adventure this summer.
If you want, there's a fantastic documentary series called Secrets of the Castle (BBC with some lady named Ruth and two guys named Tom and something or other). They do visit this castle. It's still being constructed, even as I type this and during the documentary, and the whole series is nice - but only covers a part of this.
Unfortunately, watching Secrets of the Castle will potentially send you down a rabbit hole. See, Ruth did a bunch of other documentary series and they're all fantastic. Wartime Farm is a good one. There's Victorian Farm, etc... You'll end up blowing a ton of hours away - but they're educational and entertaining.
So, caution for intellectual time traps. You may find yourself stuck on the subject for a few weeks. It can happen...
Anyhow, the castle is still being constructed and they're strict about using medieval methods. It's a full-on research project, and not just insane people. There's insane people too - in fact it was initiated by an insane person (as I recall).
If you want, you can actually go there and help. They'll let you help build a castle using medieval methods. They want you to devote a minimum of two weeks (again, as I recall) to help, otherwise it's not worth it for them to train you. The longer you volunteer, the more you'll learn. Initially, they were limited to working mostly in the warmer months, but they're now well along and are able to live there and work there full time.
And...
I wrote all this, and hunted you down specifically, because I'm really sure you'll find it interesting. I've been meaning to mention it for a while. So, I'm sort of stalking you - in that I sought you out specifically. Boo!
Anyhow, I do caution you that it's a time sink. You have been warned! ;-)
LOL I am a Buddhist but few people know where my name comes from.
"If you meet the Buddha on the road, kill him."
It's an old Buddhist saying, a bit of a koan, and a pretty good way to think about life.
