If I have more followers I'll feel more important, so maybe I modify my behavior slightly by posting more aww pics and 4chan screenshots. Maybe I make a sub so I can tell peoe why they should follow me. Maybe I do nothing but feel inadequate because I follow more people than follow me. It's too social-mediay.
So by your logic, we should also remove subscribers' counter in sub's sidebar, as they might have a similar effect on mods who "will feel more important", right?
