Here is @AOU identifying the latest hystereichal alt: https://poal.co/s/Introductions/699379/8b8796eb-85d0-4a0e-9bf5-137bc3c1c83f#cmnts

Personally I think it’s necessary, but I could see how this could create issues down the line.

Who decides which users are acting in bad faith? If IDing alts is fair game, then what else?

IMO it’s easily justifiable when the user in question is hystereichal. I’ve been calling out his alts on sight and it’s been fun watching him seethe every time his game is uncovered. But is an admin doing it an unfair advantage?

What do you all think?

Nope. Nowhere in my comment I make a reference to that account.

That at least gives you some plausible deniability. I’ll grant you that.

It’s not your fault some of us can read between the lines.

[–] 1 pt

lol And it’s not your fault you can't read server logs.

[–] 1 pt

Right. You technically haven’t revealed anything. 😉

I think it would be a lot more fair to just dox them to me so I can find them and stab them. Like in the leg or something, I'm not a maniac.

Always knew you were the evil doll from trilogy of terror

The Talmud tells us Admins are allowed to identify the users as though they were branding cattle, for that is what they are before the eyes of YHWH.

Give them all numbers tattoo their arms with it. That way they are easier to keep track of

He who pays the bills sets the rules. We users have no say in what the admin can or cannot do. We don't pay the bills. Simple as.

Users who don't like that the admin is essentially god here have no obligation to stick around. No one owes you anything if you're not paying the bills. Simple as.

Everyone got it now? Simple as.

And how exactly do you want to ID users? IP addresses?

[–] 2 pts

Since I’m not an admin I rely on pattern recognition. I can easily spot hystereichal alts with that alone since he’s so obvious.

But that’s kind of the point of this post. If it wasn’t hystereichal, would we be cool with an admin just recognizing the Israeli IP and IDing the alt right away?

That's a slippery slope, mate. Even with @aou, whom I DO trust with such power, there is way too much of a chance of corruption from such a policy. Now, if we wanted to set up an automated system to auto-block IP addresses from specific regions, that I could get behind. But people are fallible, and there's too much of a chance of people getting this abused. Or worse: someone hacks the site

The problem with auto-blocking IPs is it’s easy to work around. Once the Israeli shills figure out their IP is auto-blocked on Poal then using a VPN becomes their standard operating procedure. They already probably do that in most cases.

I probably shouldn’t have let slip that Hystereichal’s country IP was known, but it’s so obvious anyway.

Yeah, I’m of the opinion that spotting them by their behavior is the best way. It’s impossible to circumvent, unlike any automated measures.

"Problem Users"? Why don't you take that antisemitism elsewhere.
