Suppressor restriction is just part of the "slippery slope" model of gun grabbing. This shit has to be done incrementally, that's why they ban little things every few years. Bump stock this year, suppressors next year, magazines over 10 rounds the next year, etc..
Do you know how many times suppressors are used in murders? FUCKING NEVER. There are only a few documented cases of this being done, and they're almost all gang-hits. And here's the kicker- IT'S STILL LOUD AS FUCK. About as loud as a diesel engine starting up. A suppressor isn't going to make you invisible.
This is a "long-game" thing. Suppressors are useful in wooded areas, mountains, even urban environments.... in a military context. It might just hide the muzzle flash and take the pop out of the noise just enough so that it becomes very hard to locate your position via hearing alone.
Hypothetical: Jackboots rounding up innocent families to be sent to the gulag would have reason to fear shit like this. They kick in a door of a rural house, and hear a distant "POP", and "Oh no, IRS Special Agent Juan Sanchez just got shot! Who shot him?! Where'd the shot come from?!" Another goes down. Turns out the intended victims have a great neighbor across the way....
No cop has ever been murdered in the USA with a suppressed weapon. There has never been a shootout in the USA where a suppressor made the difference between "bad shit happening" and "bad shit not happening", it's such an insignificant piece of equipment (in the big picture) that it's clear they don't want us having them because they plan on using force on us, soon, and they want us to have as limited an arsenal as possible. This should worry you, this should worry everyone.
There are ATF agents going to people's house to try and get them to give up their fucking SOLVENT TRAPS. Y'know, those little cones that you can use to catch excess oils while cleaning your weapon? Apparently, the ATF is very concerned that these will be used as homemade suppressors! You can do that with an empty fucking water bottle.
