People make up stories all the time that are mostly nonsense but may have some elements of truth in them from the distant past. Some of these stories can stick around for a couple thousand years even. It's pretty incredible.

And even more incredibly, the cycle repeats over and over. With the new nonsense loudly proclaiming the previous one as "that was actually nonsense, not this one, we know better now".

It can be hard to have faith in humanity sometimes.
